DJ AMÉMÉ share techno-leaning remix of Omah Lay’s ‘Understand’

AMÉMÉ invigorates Omah Lay’s global hit Understand” with his signature Afrohouse sound. Incorporating the Afrobeats elements and vocal chops of the original song, AMÉMÉ transforms Omah Lay’s smash single into a melodic, after hours-ready track filled with gqom-influenced percussion and techno-leaning synths. The AMÉMÉ remix of “Understandwill be released October 1st on Sire Records, via Warner Music.

West African native AMÉMÉ channels his cultural roots and ancestry into everything he does. Born and raised in Benin, AMÉMÉ (Hubert Sodogandji) helms One Tribe, a global community and brand identity centered on unity and good vibes. His visionary capabilities and unwavering dedication have been the catalyst behind the rapid growth and proliferation of both his musical endeavours and One Tribe as a whole.

When I first heard “Understand” I was immediately drawn to it and knew that I could bring something special to the remix. There is the obvious connection in our shared roots (my mother is originally from Nigeria) but it is also my upbringing on Afrobeat music and Omah Lay’s infectious vocals that really made this track resonate with me. This remix is a product of my culture and craft as it bridges the gaps between afrohouse, house, afrobeat, and melodic techno while still capturing the essence of the original version.” – AMÉMÉ
