Israeli DJ and Producer HEVI LEVI recently released his new single ‘Expecto Patronum’ on the 25th of August via his own imprint Joy Group. The Tel Aviv native has appeared at numerous underground clubs, as well as some of the biggest music festivals around the world, namely Tomorrowland, Laundry Day, Escape, Sensation, Space, Futurami, IT, Ministry Of Sound, ADE, Pacha and many more. He’s also received international support from publications such as Mixmag Brasil, Mixmag Caribbean, Techno Mood, Electronic Groove, Only Techno, Vicious Magazine, House Music With Love, T.H.E Music Essentials, We Rave You, and EDM Nations to name a handful.
In addition to this, his music has also aired on BBC Radio 6‘s Nemone sitting in for Mary Anne Hobbs, KCRW’s Metropolis with Jason Bentlet, Ibiza Sonica Radio and Miami Encode Radio, to name but a few.
HEVI LEVI‘s production style is recognisable due to his ability to blend the dark modes of Techno with the danceability of House music. ‘Expecto Patronum’ follows suit. Premiering on Deep House Sweden, it features a deep, bouncey bass that takes center stage, as a rolling arpeggio maintains the rhythm and drive of the track. Exasperated by a brassy motif which adds grit and variety to the song, there is an assortment of bell and choir sounds that create an incredibly atmospheric feel in the breakdown. As it builds to its final crescendo in the main drop, we’re thrust the into a hypnotic trance as aggressive stabs and elements previously heard in the track reemerge. Its progressive, anthemic and hard-hitting.
Speaking about his music, HEVI LEVI had this to say: “I’m not doing what I do because I love music, i’m doing it because I love how my music makes people feel”.
