Now, we won’t say remixes make the world go round but we will say that there is something magical about seeing one artist take on another artist’s work and reinventing it into something new. Naturally, we were curious when we heard that techno producer Sian had taken on the original single created by Bloom Twins and Jan Blomqvist, enticingly named ‘High On Beat’. The single is clearly capturing the public’s attention, having also been picked for a remix by the infamous SOFI TUKKER duo (you can read our feature here on this remix). The SOFI TUKKER remix, released less than a month ago, is already sitting at just under half a million plays on Spotify alone while the original is steadily heading towards 1.5 million.
Naturally, with so many big names circling around the track, we were curious about the next producer who stepped forward to invest their time and sound into the project. Sian is known for recreating the sound of others into epic remixes, with an evident fondness being placed on the work of Deadmau5. In his remix of ‘High On Beat’, the producer highlights the vocals of the unique twins, while deepening the bassline and creating an anthemic hit, perfect for the dancefloor.
Speaking of the remix, Sian tells us: “When I first heard the song, it lit my brain on fire. The combination of this sweet vocal and the melancholic tone was really intriguing. It seemed haunting, burning and timeless, and I instantly felt like I could take it somewhere a little darker and heavier. I wanted to create a remix that stood as a classic end of the night track. It was literally my favourite remix to work on so far, and I think huge things are to come from this super talented act.”
