THE ILLUSTRATED MAN and Sasha Carassi released their new single ‘Dance of Shadows’ featuring Aquarius Heaven this past weekend on ILINX. The track is part of THE ILLUSTRATED MAN’s upcoming debut album, The Skin Of Time, which will be out on June 12. Originally from Armenia and now based in Dubai, THE ILLUSTRATED MAN has been gaining recognition in the electronic music scene, with support from artists like Adriatique, Bedouin, Township Rebellion, Richie Hawtin, and Joris Voorn, as well as airplay on BBC Radio 1 and Ibiza Global Radio. His stage name is inspired by Ray Bradbury’s The Illustrated Man, reflecting his interest in film, visual art, and science fiction. His music tells stories through sound, using layered production to create tension and emotion that listeners can feel. This same approach comes through in his live sets, which evolve and shift as he performs.
Sasha Carassi, who began DJing in the 1990s and made his mark as a producer with his 2002 album, is known for his skill and willingness to explore new sounds. He says, “I love listening to everything, I’m inspired by a lot of different things, from Burial to Daft Punk, David Bowie and Aphex Twin.” The track opens with mysterious, muffled synths, then brings in an airy choir of Aquarius Heaven vocals over a strong, rhythmic beat. Sasha Carassi took care of co-production, mixing, and mastering from his studio in Naples, Italy. Together, the duo keeps the track moving, letting the story unfold with each rise and fall.
THE ILLUSTRATED MAN had this to say: “A hypnotic and fluid movement where groove emerges, enriched by soulful and expressive vocals.” Adding that “Time does not pass, it transforms. What remains is not what happened, but what it became within us.”
