Thomas Blondet and Steven Rubin release long-awaited trip-hop EP

Thomas Blondet, a previous resident DJ at Eighteenth Street Lounge in Washington DC, for over 20 years has made an unusual pairing, choosing to work with Steven Rubin, a rising musician known for hopping between bands and finding his feet in the indie scene. However, the two have proved their worth as a collaborative team. While we traditionally focus on the more fast-paced worlds within electronic music, the pair still caught our attention with our downtempo stylings.

We received hints of their capabilities with the previously released single ‘Seascapes’ as ‘Complicated Shadows’ and a few other intriguing releases. However, today we’ve been treated to Sea Sons – the full conceptual EP that immortalises the collaboration. Thomas Blondet and Steven Rubin are a pair that we’ll be keeping an eye on from now on, regardless of whether they will be working together or apart.

Speaking in an interview with The Playground, the two shared their philosophy on after working with music for so many years: With age comes experience and with experience comes wisdom.  Every aspect of how we create music continues to be honed and refined.  We are continually learning new things.
